A Difference You Can Feel

The demonstration begins with both motors deactivated, allowing visitors to rotate them by hand. When turning the conventional slotted motor, users immediately notice the characteristic cogging effect. The motor moves in distinct steps as the rotor passes the stator slots.

In contrast, the Alva slotless motor rotates smoothly and freely, without the resistance and stepping sensation associated with cogging. The result is an intuitive comparison that makes the impact of slotless motor technology immediately apparent.

Smooth Motion Without Compromising Performance

The demonstration then moves beyond feel and into performance. In Lock Mode, both motors hold their position with comparable strength. While slotless motors are often associated with smooth motion and weak performance, this part of the demonstration highlights another important characteristic of Alva's technology: strong holding torque.  

The result is a system that combines smooth operation with the performance expected from high-performance torque motors.

Demonstrating Precision Control

The final part of the demonstration showcases the control capabilities of the slotless motor.

In Follow Mode, the slotless motor follows the movement of the slotted motor. As the slotted motor is rotated, the slotless motor reproduces the same motion profile-including the uneven movement created by cogging.

This demonstrates how precisely and responsively the slotless motor can be controlled. The motor is not only smooth because it eliminates cogging by design; it is also capable of reproducing that behavior when commanded to do so.
